Buying Versus Leasing Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Buying Versus Leasing - Assignment Example More significantly, capital budgeting is more commonly used in management planning as it gives an outlay of the long-term implication of purchasing or leasing a new car. Therefore, the main aim of the thesis of this paper is to not only evaluate the suitable choice of acquiring cars, but to also analyze the financial and non-financial factors that influence decision making. Executive Summary Investment decisions are based on economical and effective factors that make the purchase of cars more viable as compared to leasing a car. More significantly, application of capital budgeting in deciding on purchases takes into consideration the viable choice after carrying out appraisal based on the expenses related to buying and leasing and their cost respectively. As a result, capital budgeting is more commonly used in management planning as it gives an outlay of the long-term implication of purchasing or leasing a new car (Thomas & Maurice, 2011). More so, considerations should be undertaken based on the provision economic decisions based on interest rates, sources of finances, end of lease fees, loan terms, personal guarantees and operating cash while making decisions on whether to procure or lease a car as related to economical costs. Even though, leasing allows for payments within small intervals it is considerably expense as the payments accumulate over time with no long-term benefit being derived. Definition In the acquisition of new assets, there are two choices based on whether to lease or purchase. More considerably, leasing comes either as operational or capital lease depending on the terms of the contract. In capital leasing, an individual is allowed to finance the maintenance and use of the car while at the end of the agreed lease term take up ownership after undertaking a nominal buy out lease. On the other hand, operational lease allows for renting of the car, and as a result, there is no ownership entitled at the end of the contract as the lease term allo ws for monthly payments (Powell, 2009). Nonetheless, purchases allow for payments to be made at the initial purchase and ownership of the asset is transferred immediately to the buyer. Even though, the leasing of a car seem viable it involves regular payment of the leasing fee as the returns of the vehicle passes back to the initial owner, when the lease term comes to an end as compared to purchases where upon payment of the purchase price legal ownership is issued immediately to the buyer of the car. As a result, there is a significant difference in terms of payments and ownership term in the purchase and leasing of a car. More considerably, to understand about leasing agreements, it is essential to understand about the lessor as the leasing company in which they deal with leasing of cars based on rights that govern the contract (Powell, 2009). While the leaseholder, or lessee is an individual who utilize services of the leasing company through leasing of vehicles. As the lessee us es the vehicle, they make payment based on calculated monthly lease charge this payment made are considered to cover the interest that is charged by the leasing company for services offered. As a result, the leaseholder makes a choice on the type of lease to undertake. If an individual chooses capital lease, it is known as closed-ended lease because the leaseholder does not get a guarantee of

The Jeremy Kyle Show Essay Example for Free

The Jeremy Kyle Show Essay An odd looking couple, both of whom look as though they could have stepped straight out of the set of Little Britain, sit on an open stage while a bunch of adults; sit gawping at them as if they were animals in the zoo. The couple who are so wrapped up in an argument that has been supposedly been going on for 2 years, hardly notice the way that Jeremy Kyle himself is finding it hard to restrain himself from screaming at them to force them to listen. His facial expression tells of the way he is willing the couple to grow up and stop acting like spoilt children. Security guards hide in the wings, ready and waiting to jump in at any moment when the arguing gets out of hand, something that they are used to doing on a daily basis. The audience boo as the male half of the couple begins to share his side of the story, whilst the woman sits, holding a tissue to her eyes. Jeremy steps in front of the couple and orders them to be quiet, before beginning his long, rambling speech about how the couple should be ashamed of themselves for the way that they are acting. This may sound like some kind of outrageous scene from a television soap, but in actual fact it is an everyday occurrence on a chat show shown daily on ITV. Said to be a way to help resolve family feuds and ridiculous problems, The Jeremy Kyle show can only be described as a place for people to hang their dirty washing out to dry. Some of the stories featured include things as ludicrous as Confess youre a cheat or Ill prove Im the father of your eldest daughter and Can you prove your sons my brother? This is just a couple of the mad stories that become part of the programme. Some are so unbelievable youd think that they had been made up, just for entertainment. The real horror of it is that the worst of it all doesnt come from the guests, but from Jeremy himself. His snide comments and the way that he reacts to the different people he meets is awful. He encourages the audience to boo or cheer at people, which surely isnt going to help his problemed guests. The so called advice that he gives usually causes more harm than good and is often the centre of many arguments. Always through his stern, practiced words, there was the glint in his eyes that gave away that this was TV gold and he knew it. Theres no way that this man set out to actually help the people who feature on his programme, more likely that he was out for the money. The way that the show is so obviously rehearsed beforehand doesnt stop the hundreds of people desperate for five minutes of fame from becoming part of this sham. People seem to become drawn into this circus and become fixated on becoming part of it. Jeremy himself advertises getting onto the programme by filling peoples heads with different scenarios, all as insane as each other, that the audience may have found themselves in, that they may want to use as a way to take part in the show. Jeremy sits, cross legged whilst reading out lists of problems looks relaxed and confident in front of the camera, obviously used to being in that kind of situation. His sophisticated manner also lulls people into a false sense of security, thinking that going on this programmes really will help them to work out their ludicrous problems. Do people seriously believe and take notice of the rubbish that comes out of this mans mouth?! The answer is yes, people do. Quite why, is unknown but they do. They seem to think that this man actually knows what hes talking about and that the advice he gives is actually worth listening to. The way some people carry on about this programme would have you thinking that it was a quality and useful thing to watch! A gathering of bored and easily lead people who take part in it the show or opt to be in the audience are gathered from different areas in the UK all with different opinions to add to what is going on. The way that the programme is advertised is deceptive, therefore some people must be lulled into a false impression that it could help them, when in actual fact it will most likely cause more harm than good. Overall, all that can be said for the Jeremy Kyle Show is that it is a huge deception. Said to solve any type of family problem, it actually fuels family feuds rather than resolves them. When are people actually going to learn that to sort out their life, applying to a television programme like this really isnt going to help?

Essay on The Holy Bible - The Authorship of Genesis :: Holy Bible Genesis Essays

The Authorship of Genesis Is the book of Genesis real or fiction? This is an age-old question. There are many thousands of Christians, who believe that Genesis is the absolute word of God. Many of these people believe that Moses wrote the book of Genesis, and believe that God himself told him what to write. Those who believe Moses wrote it really believe that God created the heaven and earth as well as all living things including man. Then there are those who believe Genesis is nothing more than fiction. They do not believe that Moses or anyone else wrote Genesis. They do not believe that God created the heaven or earth. They believe we evolved from either fish or monkeys. They believe Genesis is nothing more than a fairytale written a long time ago. That is why when we look at the age-old question about the authorship of Genesis. We most look at three very important perspectives about, which may or may not have written Genesis. The first perspective we will look at is the belief that Moses is the author of Genesis. The second perspective we will look at, is the belief that Moses and many other authors wrote the book of Genesis. The third perspective is that Moses didn’t write Genesis at all, many historians and theologians believe that different writers contributed to the writings of Genesis. When looking at that perspective that Moses was the sole author of Genesis. We must understand that this belief is deeply held by many conservative scholars and most of the Christian world. Those who believe that Moses was the author of Genesis, believe there are three ways which Moses transmitted Genesis. The first method was by direct revelation from God. Those who believe this believe that God spoke and told Moses what to write. These people believe that, "All scripture is given by the inspiration of god," (II Timothy 3:16). They also believe the Bible is infallible word of God and cannot lie, so when Jesus Christ himself stated, " And at the beginning Moses and all prophets he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in all the psalms concerning me" (Luke 24:27,44). I Remember When… :: Biology Essays Research Papers

I Remember When†¦ This paper was written by a student in a course at Bryn Mawr College, and reflects that student's research and thoughts at the time the paper was written. Like other things on Serendip, the paper is not intended to be "authoritative" but is instead provided to encourage others to themselves learn about and think through subjects of interest, and, by providing relevant web links, to serve as a "window" to help them do so. Web links were active as of the time the paper was posted but are not updated. There's a standing joke in our family, or rather between my sister and I. It usually comes up at family get-togethers, about the time that we're all trying to decide what to do, where to go, or what to eat. Mom will say something like, "let's have that spaghetti casserole with turnip greens that I made at last summer's get-together, we all enjoyed it so much." Jackie and I will exchange a look that says, "gross, we hated that," and invariably Mom, seeing the look pass between us, will say in utter seriousness, "no, no. I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER. We all loved that casserole." What continually amuses both Jackie and I, is the degree of confidence with which Mom remembers the same event we do, but so differently. How can people be so certain and yet so mistaken about events in our own histories? And yet, it happens time and again, and not just in my family. The observation that episodic memory retrieval is vulnerable to distortion has been documented thoroughly. Even the pattern of errors can be predicted with some reliability. (1) In order to situate "episodic memory," it's useful to know several distinctions in memory research. The most basic one is between brief and enduring memories, called short-term memories (STM) (or working memory, WM), and long-term memory (LTM). Within LTM, there are qualitative distinctions, such as between explicit and implicit, and declarative and procedural -- both of these distinctions have to do with consciousness about the memory. Explicit/declarative memory encompasses facts, figures, and all of conscious memory. Its what we commonly refer to as memory. (2) This type of memory is flexible, fast, and specialized for one-time learning. (3) Procedural/implicit memory is thought to be the most durable memory, and encompasses learned habits, skills and things that you "know" but don't consciously think about.

Ford Motor Company Swot Analysis

Ford Motor Company SWOT Analysis Strengths †¢Timely acquisition of capital makes Ford more financially sound than the other Big Three carmakers. †¢Product line is respected by industry experts and is qualitatively seen to be a step above many of its competitors. Recent surveys place Ford in a tie with Toyota for greatest customer satisfaction, a significant improvement from five years ago. †¢Have a global market presence, with worldwide brand recognition and a particularly strong presence in Europe. †¢Is perceived to be a thoroughly â€Å"American† brand, which helps Ford among certain groups of consumers. U. S. market share, after years of decline, has stabilized in recent years. †¢The Ford F-series pickup remains the most respected commercial truck available; despite demand shifts, profitability on this line should remain high. †¢Ford has had great success, particularly when compared to its competitors, at renegotiating labor contracts with the UAW. Weaknesses †¢Poor Profitability: Ford still loses money on many automobile lines, particularly within the United States. †¢Importance of single components source (Visteon). The automotive market is highly competitive with large fixed costs. In addition, the market demands continual long term planning and research and development. †¢Very little market penetration within China and India. †¢Global excess capacity for the automobile industry is estimated to average 30. 5 million vehicles per year from 2009-2011. 9 †¢Ford is selling a durable good during the most severe economic downturn in recent history. Opportunities †¢Ford has recognized the importance of small, fuel efficient vehicles and is actively transitioning into this market.Of particular interest is Ford’s ‘EcoBoost’ technology, which the company claims will result in 20% greater fuel efficiency and 15% fewer CO2 emissions. †¢The ‘One Ford’ vision has th e chance to generate significant margin increases for Ford’s smaller line of vehicles. Of particular importance is the Ford Fiesta, which was recently released in Europe and China and is slated for an early 2010 release in North America. The ‘One Ford’ vision appears to be a coherent strategy for Ford to adopt given its changed role within the industry. Ford is perceived to be the most stable ‘American’ car manufacturer because it has not been forced to take bailout money, leading to slight increases in market share. †¢GM and Chrysler flexibility is limited by government involvement in their debt situation, putting Ford as a competitive advantage. †¢In the event of a GM or Chrysler bankruptcy, Ford has placed itself in a position to steal market share—at least in the short term. Threats †¢While not in need of a government bailout, poor financial results are straining Ford’s capital.Cash burn continues unabated, and estima tes indicate Ford may be forced to seek government financing by early 2010 unless sales stabilize. †¢While Ford is readjusting production, truck sales are falling rapidly and Ford may not be able to shift production quickly enough to meet changing demand. †¢Bankruptcy of Visteon or other parts supplier could cause severe disruption of supply chain. †¢While Ford has too many dealers at this time, it should remain wary of too many closures. In addition, because Ford Credit provides financing for most dealers it must be careful to avoid holding the bag when dealerships close.

Maestro (Goldsworthy, P.) essays

Maestro (Goldsworthy, P.) essays Maestro shows us that maturity is gained only through suffering. Discuss. Peter Goldsworthys Maestro focuses on the coming of age of Paul Crabbe, who slowly leaves his childhood innocence behind to enter the new world of adulthood. His pathway to maturity is described through a series of experiences, particularly with an old Viennese music teacher, Eduard Keller, or the Maestro. Near the end of the novel, where Paul is in his mid-twenties, he looks back on his transformation from a spoiled, self-indulged adolescent, to a more compassionate and more knowledgeable adult. He realises, through his own suffering and Kellers influence, that his talents are not good enough to earn him a career as a concert pianist. Pauls personality changes throughout the text. At the start Paul is corrupted by pride and the idea that he is great, almost perfect even. This self-satisfaction does wonders to boost his ego, as he predicts instant fame and fortune will fall at his feet. When he first meets Keller, he acts as if he knows everything, but Keller mocks him constantly with such comments as, you know so much for your age...and so little, and wont give in to his superficial ideals. Paul does not appreciate it when the old man honestly points out his true arrogant nature, but eventually awakens to his truth. With truth comes suffering, and suffering does play an integral part to Pauls maturity. For years, Keller has been trying to teach Paul not to expect too much. He offers words of insight and once asks him, what is the difference between good and great pianists?. He answers himself with, Not much, just a little. Obviously that little is just enough to make Paul fall short of his dreams he misses that final step that would take him to the top, simply because of his pride. In the end he fails to achieve musical success. ...

Anne Bradstreet Essays

Anne Bradstreet Essays Anne Bradstreet Essay Anne Bradstreet Essay Anne Broadsheet poem A prologue she is stating that she is different because she is a woman that writes. Woman were not supposed to write and speak their minds. She states But simple My she is saying that her skill is simple compared to his. But you can tell there is a hint of sarcasm behind her writing. She is writing this to try to fool people into thinking that she thinks woman cannot write. B) Anne Breadbaskets A prologue is an apology. An apology is a form of poetry that Raritan often involved a self-effacing or self-humbling stance. The poet either apologizes directly or in directly. She also shows examples of backsliding. Backsliding is a term the puritans used to show even the ones that were among the most elect might diverge from the behavior that God required them to do. C) Anne Broadsheet has a lot of examples for backsliding. Back then woman are not supposed to write and were only supposed to have children and stay in the kitchen to cook food for their families. Woman were seen more as objects than as human beings. She acknowledges her role as a woman in society but does not agree with It. She even recognizes the supposed superiority that men have over woman, Men can It well (40). She also realizes what she Is doing Is out of the ordinary for woman at the time, l am Tongue(25) she Is showing that she knows that she Is a woman that has a mind of her own and that It Is difficult to please the people around her because of it. She goes on to acknowledge the role of woman In the puritan days by eying, who Lets(26). She apologizes to those around her by trying to put herself down sarcastically and with humor. In the first stanza she even says that there are some things she shouldnt be writing about, Like war. She realized that even If she were to write a good poem that most people would thing she stole It or someone else wrote It and she put her name on It, but she kept writing because that was what she liked to do. She wanted to show that woman were Inferior to men.
